Job Description:

Position Description: Nissin International Transport USA, Inc. is a global 3rd party logistics service provider offering freight forwarding, customs brokerage, warehousing, order management, and inland transportation services. As one of its service offering, Nissin USA offers order management and transportation services to its customer. The EMG team acts as an extension to a customer’s procurement team and manages procurement and transportation operations on their behalf as a service provider. Nissin’s supply chain platform (powered by Infor Nexus) is used to collaborate with the customer’s suppliers, vendors, transportation providers, carriers, and other stakeholders to issue a purchase order, coordinate the production with the suppliers and move the cargo to its intended destinations while managing the customer’s project deadlines. The Senior Operations Manager for the End to End Management Group (EMG) oversees the team that extends these services to Nissin’s customers. The Senior Operations is responsible for ensuring the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the purchasing and transportation services team (EMG) within the organization.

 

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Setting and facilitating the overall service delivery strategy of the EMG
  • Work with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Work with our customer’s vendors, suppliers, and project managers to ensure the procurement process runs smoothly and optimizing where necessary
  • Assess vendor capabilities, develop alternate sources, evaluate vendor performance and report to the customer
  • Establish department practices and procedures
  • Analyze market, recommend transportation options based on anticipated changes in prices or capacity
  • Keep abreast of changes in the market, new product developments or processes
  • Coordinate cost reduction activities for the EMG group
  • Lead and mange purchasing, inventory control, forecasting, transportation, project management, and other areas required on behalf of those customers that opt for Nissin’s EMG services
  • Direct the hiring, training, supervision, mentoring, and performance evaluations of EMG staff including staff from Nissin’s BPO partner/provider
  • Understand and support customer requirements, maintain and develop positive business relationships with customers’ key personnel relevant to supply chain activities
  • Collaborate with staff, other departments, senior management, and decision maker to share information, problem solve, and to clarify management objectives
  • Develop annual plans with prioritization and resourcing
  • Monitor and analyze current trends in the marketplace
  • Identify and manage risk within the supply chain; address tactical and strategic supply chain issues
  • Stay informed of advances in supply chain technology and approaches, and apply within the organization to improve supply chain process
  • Develop and implement new systems, best practices, and other optimizations in order to grow the business
  • Perform other responsibilities as required or requested

Oversee a team that is responsible for the following

  • Ensure purchasing documents are properly completed and compliance expectations are fully met
  • Prepare dashboards and reports as needed
  • Coordinate with other internal departments and facilitate the transport of cargo
  • Develop analytics, systems and data management capabilities, including metrics and reports
  • Direct, coordinate, assign, monitor and review the work of individuals engages in supply chain related duties within the EMG group
  • Manager supplier and vendor relationships (e.g. other third party logistics providers employed by the customer)
  • Manage the supply chain platform powered by Infor Nexus and assist with the design , onboarding, and development of customers and processes on the platform
  • Establish key performance indicators, monitor ongoing performance, and improve performance against set goals
  • Participate in cross functional logistics services teams to ensure successful customer launches, operations, and customer success

Experience and Skills:

Qualifications:

  • Education: BA/BS undergraduate degree preferred in business administration, procurement, or supply chain management
  • Minimum of 10+ years work experience in supply chain purchasing, order, and transportation management in area of specialty or industry
  • Minimum of 5 years personnel management experience required
  • Possess solid knowledge or core concepts and familiarity of ERP systems (eg. SAP, Oracle, Sage, MRP)
  • Prior hands on experience with Infor Nexus platform, preferred and desirable
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills with presentations delivered to clients
  • Strategic vision and execution with a proactive approach
  • Ability to be comfortable with ambiguity as needs change on a regular basis with a high degree of initiative and sense of urgency.
  • The ability to travel internationally and domestically, depending on the project location
  • While a hybrid work environment is available, flexibility to work remotely is limited
